Nokia launches N80 Internet Edition smart phone

Nokia, the Finnish mobile phone manufacturer has upgraded its N80 smart phone with enhanced Internet capability, including an interface designed for VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).
Nokia’s N-series mobile phones were launched last year towards the premium business market, combining advanced features and high build quality. The N80 Internet Edition is similar in specification to the original N80 with quad band connectivity working on GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks as well as 3G. It also has 802.11g Wi-Fi on board, along with Bluetooth. Other features packed into the 9.5 x 5 x 2.6cm 134g stainless steel body include a 3 megapixel camera, 40MB of internal memory for media storage, an FM radio and enough battery power to provide three hours of talk time and almost 8 days on standby. Its high resolution 2.1in 352 x 416, 262,144 crisp colour screen displays all media with impressive quality.

The new Internet Edition of the N80 smart phone adds a further level to this specification, although it is largely software which receives an upgrade. The N80 comes with Nokia’s new enhanced web browser which is also bundled with a new Wi-Fi set up wizard, Amazon.com’s MobiPocket eBook reader and the new Yahoo! Go! mobile application. Nokia have also built in VoIP availability with their Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). This new version of the N80 is scheduled for public availability from mid September in Europe and the US.
